Mod ideas
I have very little knowledge about coding mods for The Sims 2, but if I did, these are the mods I would make.
Electrocution mod
When a sim is electrocuted or struck by lightning, there is a 50% chance their aspiration and personality will randomly change. If this happens, the sim will also gain the “Changed Aspiration” memory from Nightlife.
This is a rule I practice manually in my game, using Cyber Psychic to flip a coin and Sim Manipulator to reroll the aspiration and personality. It adds some fun storytelling opportunities, and since electrocution doesn’t happen too often in my game, it still feels like an uncommon event.
A similar mod exists out there by hypersaline called “Asp Fail, Asp Change,” so maybe I can build upon that one.
Bubble blower mod
The bubble blower that comes with University is very fun for Sims, but it fails to have any drawbacks or noticeable effects in the game. They can literally smoke all day and it doesn’t effect anything. I wanted to add a basic motive drop and also effects similar to Actual Alcohol. I envision this as a controller + token mod.
First, smoking bubbles drains the Sim’s energy a bit. Maybe a tiny bit of a hunger drain to simulate munchies too. If the Sim smokes bubbles for ~1 hour, they get a “high” token. The high token temporarily makes them walk like a Young Adult and gives them Max Playful points for maybe 2-4 hours.
This way, using the bubble blower has a noticeable and fun effect on a sim, which can also be seen as a “drawback” where sims can’t be serious or “productive,” just silly and sleepy.
