Steve Silberman died
Today I learned Steve Silberman, author of Neurotribes, died this past August. He wrote:
When I die, please don’t say that I’ve crossed over into the spirit realm, gone to the Other Side, moved on to a better place, rejoined my ancestors, or any other of those comforting fables. Just selfishly or selflessly use my own impermanence to wake up to your own.
I’m interested in Silberman not just because of his important writing on autism. Several years ago when reading about poet/Zen priest Philip Whalen, I found this really neat archived webpage from Silberman’s old website. On it, he published a little zine that Whalen made, as well as a journal he kept of their time together.
Speaking of autism, I stumbled upon this blog post on autistic (non)compliance which I really appreciated.
