I have nothing momentous to say about
the dawn of the year 2025,
except that a medley of birds visited the birdfeeder this morning, and it made me happy.
It started with juncos pecking on the ground, then a house finch perching on the feeder.
It didn’t take long for all the other birds to catch on.
A nuthatch shimmied down the nearby tree. Some chickadees. Titmice. Even a fat red-bellied woodpecker came to see what all the fuss was about.
Tomorrow, I go back to work. Trying to be optimistic about it. Mostly, holding onto the great memories of my winter break.
